entrance wall and gate (Large)

Hi everyone,

We realized recently that some of you don’t know our news yet.  We sent emails about it, but some of you are connected with us only through Facebook or the blog, so I apologize!  It’s hard to remember how to reach everyone.  I will type this and share it on both Dale’s and my Facebook accounts.

Below is the text of an email from the director of NGM.  The gist is that we are going home the end of October, and we don’t know when or for sure if we are returning to Uganda.  The project has ended, or rather taken a different direction.  We are seeking the Lord on what steps we should take.  We want to come back.  We don’t feel ready to go home for good. But there are things we need to sort and consider, so we are in limbo right now.

We would appreciate your prayers as we make some decisions in the next few months.  Thanks!

Text of explanatory email from Paul Hunter, Director of Next Generation Ministries:

Morning Dick and all of you who share an interest in Next Generation Ministries,

Let me attempt to bring all of you up to speed on the change in strategy NGM has with it’s Women’s Clinic ministry.
Over the past year, Dale has done a diligent and thorough job in assessing the needs, requirements, and feasibility of constructing a facility on the property NGM owns in Bugembe for a women’s health clinic.  That was after he supervised the renovation of the house on the property and security wall bordering the property.  Serious concerns regarding the location, water, power, corruption, , financial need, and other issues were shared by Dale with the Board of Directors.
At the Board Meeting of the Directors a couple of weeks ago, these concerns prompted the Board to revisit the original vision for the pregnant women of Uganda.  The focus was on providing advocacy for the dignity and health needs of pregnant women.  The challenges and demands of constructing a facility to facilitate this vision would require raising hundreds of thousands of dollars. With enough money the challenges could be met, the obstacles overcome, and a facility built.  But, the prospect of raising huge amounts of money … while women are needing advocacy and care .. resulted in a decision by the Board to suspend the construction project.  NGM owns the land and the house on the property and are able to begin to minister to these women without constructing a facility.
The change in strategy was from the construction project (long term focus helping women in the future) to asking the Lord to provide a national health care worker to work with and for NGM in caring for pregnant women (short term goal that addresses the need now).
Dale’s primary responsibility was for the construction of a facility and that project was suspended for now.  If the board had seen a steady flow of contributions for the project or some major gifts over the past two years, they may have been inclined to continue to pursue the construction project. They wanted to make this decision before Pam and I start our road trips to promote the work of Next Generation Ministries.  Originally there were some large donations made for the purpose of purchasing land and having a building to work from.   But, there has not been any interest shown through contributions for the newer building project.  The land and house NGM owns can serve that purpose without a huge construction project.
Dale and Daurelle’s work with NGM has been significant and deeply appreciated.  It went well beyond any project because of the love they have for the people of Uganda and the relationships they have established.  There are still options for them to consider in continuing to work with NGM, but due to visa and work permit issues, it appears they will come home the end of October as they continue to seek the Lord for direction for what their continued efforts in Uganda will look like.
I hope this summary helps all of you be in the know about the shift in strategy NGM has in regards to the Women’s Clinic ministry. You are always free to inquire about the workings of our effort in Uganda. Pam and I are always willing to connect with you personally to share about the work.  Just give us a call or email us.
     Love you all,
     Paul
